TIRANA, March 23 – The Swiss Government evacuated two Albanians severely burned during the Gerdec explosion. The medical evacuation of the patients took place Sunday aboard a special airplane from Switzerland. The Albanians were taken to University Hospitals in Lausanne and Zurich.

The Swiss Government is providing specialized medical support for burn patients from the Gerdec Explosions. Last Friday, special medical supplies were delivered by the Swiss Cooperation Office to Mother Theresa Hospital.

Each patient brought to Switzerland has been accompanied by a member of their family.

The costs of the rescue operation have been assumed taken by the Swiss Cooperation.

This support is part of the ongoing support to the people of Albania in coping with the aftermath of the explosions of G쳤ec. The Swiss support is focused on three levels: Specialized medical support for victims with burns, Swiss expertise in soil analysis, and support for housing and the rehabilitation of schools.
