TIRANA, March 8 – Mikropolis, a personal exhibition by veteran painter Anastas Kostandini (Taso) is the latest exhibition displaying at the FAP gallery of the Faculty of Visual Arts in Tirana. Inaugurated on Thursday, March 8, the International Women’s Day, Kostandini’s exhibition is an experimental one featuring a special part of his artistic adventure of the past 14 years. “In this exhibition, the artist freely wanders beyond the territory of painting trying new means of expression such as collage, montage, installation, or sculpture. Grotesque humour, challenge and anti-conformism are the key elements the artist plays with in this escape from dictatorship and the authority of painting,” the gallery says.
Born in the Lake town of Pogradec, Taso, 57, continues to live and work in the beautiful light of Pogradec, capturing the ambience of rural landscape and everyday life in a style reminiscent of Cubism and of Marc Chagall. His work is also inspired by the powerful poetry of Lasgush Poradeci and Mitrush Kutelli. He works in all media – oil, pastels, watercolors and graphics.
