TIRANA, April 29 – Milan have confirmed that they will play the Albanian national team in a friendly match in two weeks’ time.
The Rossoneri will return to Tirana for the second edition of the Taci Oil Albania Reads Trophy, having already taken part in the first edition last October. Back then the Italians played local side FK Tirana and lost 2-1.
Next month they will play Albania hoping to come away from the capital city with a better result than last time.
A statement on the club’s official website, confirming the date, reads:
“On May 12, 2009 at 19:00CET, Milan will play the second edition of the Taci Oil Albania Reads Trophy in Tirana against the Albanian national team.”
Il Diavolo have played a number of midweek friendlies over the course of the season. Their last came a week ago against a Hungarian XI in Budapest, a game which was won by the Italians 5-2 on the night.
The Tirana game is a Unicef-sponsored event where proceeds raised will help promote reading in Albanian schools.
