TIRANA, Feb.1 – President Alfred Moisiu has played a significant and obvious role during the last month in an effort to impose impartiality in the public institutions and for holding free and fair local elections on Feb. 18. On Thursday Moisiu met with senior police officials asking them play an impartial role during the local elections and also keep the eye on fighting crime. Top policeman Bajram Ibraj said that all police forces were clear on their role and pledged an impartial role during the electoral campaign and the voting day. A day earlier Moisiu met with prosecutors asking them to impartially operate during the electoral process. A day earlier Moisiu said that the code of ethics had been violated by all the parties, though less than before. He also appealed to them to hold a peaceful campaign, considering it a significant step toward the country’s integration efforts into the international institutions.
