PODGORICA, July 28 – Montenegrin and Albanian state prosecutors pledged to improve their joint efforts to fight organized crime.

Meeting in Podgorica, Montenegro’s Vesna Medenica and Albania’s Theodhori Sollaku signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation aimed at bolstering their countries’ crime fighting efforts.

“The Balkan region is specific and cooperation in the fight against organized crime is necessary,” Medenica said.

Sollaku said improving cooperation is an obligation for the two countries as they try to earn membership invitations to join the European Union and NATO.

“Organized crime does not recognize borders, and the cooperation is important,” Sollaku said.
