ELBASAN, May 25 – A 45 year old mother and her seven year old daughter drowned in the Devoll River Sunday where they were trying to cross. No bridge was nearby.
A farmer saved her three-year old son from following their fate and rescued him.
Rexhina Capja had taken her two children to go to her parents across the river. She did not manage. Rexhina was found dead a few kilometers from the spot she was trying to use to cross the river. Police and local residents have yet to find her daughter.
Local farmer said that this incident was not the first drowning from people trying to cross the river and complained that authorities had not build a bridge, although they had pledged to do so for many years.
