Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro performed at the Opera House

figaroTIRANA, March 17 – The Marriage of Figaro, Mozart’s famous comic opera, is showing at the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet, in a special adapted version by Albanian director Nikolin Gurakuqi.

The opera in four acts has been reset in an international European institution where public office is used for career and sexual favours, but having the same message of revolt against the evil, abuse of power.

“I have reset the opera to present days in a public institution in a European country. All characters are workers of this institution which is led by Count Almaviva, a sex maniac who is the source of all conflicts and adulteries,” says director Gurakuqi.

Internationally renowned Albanian soprano Oriana Kurteshi and Bulgarian tenor Valeri Turmanov are the special guests in this performance which also features Opera House soloists, baritone Armando Likaj and soprano Mariana Leka.

After two performances this week, the comic opera, which is one of the most performed worldwide, will also show in the evening of Saturday, March 21.
