Muslims want ID pictures with their headscarf

TIRANA, Jan 22 – All Albanians are rushing to get their new identity cards, often finding difficulties in buying the required ticket or in other procedures at the local authorities.
This time it seems there will be another difficulty common people and the authorities should resolve.
Some Muslim women are asking they are photographed with their headscarf on.
Authorities ask them to take them off for the picture, something that has sometimes been opposed by their bearers.
Muslim community officials have asked the government to decide how to proceed in such cases. Some of them have also said they may have a radical stand in the future unless the government decides.
Albania is a predominantly Muslim nation with about two-thirds of its population, though there is no recent census to confirm that.
The tiny Balkan country is also worldwide known for its peaceful religious coexistence.
