TIRANA, June 14 – Former Prime Minsiter and leader of the opposition Socialist party Fatos Nano and the currect leader, Edi Rama, met Thursday afternoon in an effort to release their already tense relations and secure the required help for Nano to run for president in next week’s parliament first round voting. Nano himself announced that he would be at Rama’s office at 1800 local time, likely to introduce his platform in the electoral president process. “The meeting is not beyond the context of meetings with political, legal and parliamentary representatives int he country. In direct talks with Mr. Rama I will introduce the non-conflictuous orientation of my political initiative, including the uncontestable fact that my intiative does not go against anyone btu, above all, not against the party I have created and naturally not against its chairman,” said Nano. At this moment Nano has collected 16 out of 20 signatures from lawmakers needed for him to present himself as a candidate for the post of president ahead of June 20 first round voting. Nano is th eonly one that has started this process while his apparent opposnent, Bamir Topi of the Demcoratic Party has not done it, though his party has said he will compete for that.
