Nano reappears again

TIRANA, Jan 20 – Fatos Nano, former leader of the opposition Socialist Party and prime minister, again took part in the parliament’s plenary session on Monday.
Nano has disappeared since his party lost the 2005 elections when he resigned not only from the premier’s job but also from the post of party leader. He was replaced by Edi Rama.
Since then, Nano has been rarely seen taking part at the parliament’s session. It is believed he only appeared occasionally so as not to lose his lawmaker’s seat.
According to rules, a lawmaker should not miss a session for more than six months or he may lose his mandate.
That means that Nano very likely may not be seen in parliament’s sessions in the upcoming months.
It is not known whether he will try to again be elected to parliament, though he has almost completely cut his ties with the Socialist party.
