TIRANA, July 16 – Former Prime Minister and opposition Socialist Party leader Fatos Nano, who is supported only by a small part of the opposition grouping, said after being excluded for the presidency in the next two rounds that either his Socialist party would take the case to the Constitutional Court, or he would do it by himself.
Nano said that the first two rounds were unconstitutional because less than three-fifths, or 84 lawmakers took part in the vote.
Few expect that the Constitutional Court could consider the matter quickly enough to decide on so controversial an issue.
However, many political insiders are expecting a new president to be elected this week, be it Bamir Topi or Neritan Ceka.
