TIRANA, Feb 17 – The Netherlands became the latest NATO member country to ratify Albania’s NATO membership protocol.
That further reduces the number of NATO member countries remaining to three.
Tirana officially conveyed it’s thanks to the Dutch Senate for completing the procedure within a short time.
Greece is expected to do the same this week.
Albania hopes to become a full NATO member at its April summit.
Last year in April, NATO extended a membership invitation to Albania and Croatia, a move that was followed with the signing of the membership protocol in July. That protocol should be first ratified by all member countries before the two NATO candidates may claim full membership at the summit that is also celebrating the alliance’s 60th anniversary.
