TIRANA, Oct. 1 – The Albanian Energy and Industry Ministry has announced some new appointments in some key state-owned companies as well as the customs and tax directorates. The heads of KESH power corporation, Albpetrol oil company and OST transmission operator have been replaced. However, Sahit Dollapi, the current CEZ administrator is not on the list of new appointments. Dollapi has previously declared he will not resign and continue his job as CEZ Shperndarje’s state administrator.
Agron Hetoja has been appointed as new KESH director, Endri Puka as Albpetrol director and Engjell Zeqo as head of the OST operator.
Elisa Spiropali, a former civic society activist and head of the Socialist Party’s youth forum, has been appointed as head of the customs administration.
Meanwhile, Briseida Shehaj, another young woman who has previously worked in the private banking sector, has been appointed the director of the tax administration. The appointments sparked reaction among the opposition Democratic Party which denounced their young age and inexperience.
