New customs code to eliminate reference prices

TIRANA, March 26 – Albania’s new customs code will simplify procedures and gradually eliminate reference prices, Finance Minister Shkelqim Cani has said.
“A working group has been set up at the finance ministry to analyze the implementation of reference prices in order to minimize their use. We target gradually revoking these reference prices and using the transaction value more,” said the Finance Minister.
The Code drafted under EU assistance unified rules and procedures based on EU legislation applying simplified procedures and shifting to electronic system.
Introducing the Code, Prime Minister Edi Rama promised the establishment of a one-stop shop for import and export procedures currently offered by 15 agencies.
