TIRANA, Aug. 23 – Albanian authorities warned businessmen they would not allow any goods to enter the country unless it has the label written in the Albanian language, the Agriculture Ministry said. Such a law has existed for some years since 2002 but only one-fifth of the goods imported into the country follow the rule. That has often caused problem with goods that have expired and are brought to the country to be consumed.
The ministry has checked some 13,000 shopping units countrywide and has made some 35484 analysis for the foodstuff. Authorities have eliminated some 37789 kv of goods not respecting the required standards.
Following this four tons of foodstuff were blocked in the city of Fieri because of lacking the labels in the Albanian language or of the expiry date. They were soft drinks, biscuits and chocolate.
