TIRANA, March 18 – An ODIHR delegation, in the context of the Preparatory Mission for the June 28 Parliamentary Elections, visited Albania this week to meet with all top officials and political parties.
The mission, led by Gerald Michel, Chief of ODIHR Election Office, met with Prime Minister Sali Berisha, Foreign Minister Lulzim Basha, opposition Socialist Party leader Edi Rama and other top personalities.
ODIHR has been the monitoring ‘board’ for Albania’s post-communist elections.
Rama, on his side, expressed the opposition’s concern about the issuing of the new identity cards that will serve as the documentation for the voters.
Berisha has asked both the European Union and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe to send as many observers as possible to monitor the elections.
