TIRANA, March 30 – The National Theatre of Opera and Ballet has scheduled to stage premieres such as Werther, an opera in four acts by Jules Massenet, Verdi’s Don Carlos, Puccini’s Turandot, parts by Stravinsky during this year.
The big premieres the Opera House will stage this year will also be followed by Albanian and foreign instrumentalists such as a concert with parts from Hungarian composer Franz Liszt and another concert by Albanian born, US based baritone Kreshnik Zhabjaku.
This year’s programme will also bring concerts dedicated to the 100th birth anniversary of late Albanian soprano Marie Kraja and commemorate the 25th anniversary of the debut of Albanian internationally renowned soprano, Inva Mula.
The National Theatre of Opera and Ballet will be financially supported by the Eagle Mobile operator which has become its general sponsor for the 2011-2012 period.
Zhani Ciko the director of the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet says that in the calendar of 2011, “we can find the principles on which we have built our work, at the same time having new works which are aimed to be realized soon.” The Opera House aspires to bring events which can be found today only in the most important theaters of the world which the Albanian audience has now the opportunity to watch and be proud of everything achieved thus bringing us closer to the psychology how opera and ballet is made. “This year is an important preparation for the 100th anniversary of our Independence that will orientate our National Theatre into historical topics”. Preparing for this important subject means a lot, as this anniversary is the largest which belongs to our generation. Nearly the same thing was done a year ago when a whole season was dedicated to the Mother Teresa figure. This time of the year is an accumulation period regarding the Theatre’s creativity but on the other hand this is also a period of an overall preparation of the Opera House in all its structures in order to have an institution that is always an answer of the spectator’s wills and centralizes the role of this institution throughout the whole cultural life of Albania.
