TIRANA, Nov. 1 – The main opposition Socialist Party continues its campaign of making public charges of corruption on government members and Democratic Party lawmakers.
They have now turned their focus on Health Minister Petrit Vasili of the small leftist governing coalition member of the Socialist Movement for Integration.
They accuse him of corrupt ways in securing some main medicines for hospitals and also on the nomination of persons in the public posts, including placement of nurses.
The Socialists say that the healthcare system is engulfed in irresponsibility, corruption and lack of professionalism.
The Health Ministry responded Monday saying that hiring and placement are the jurisdiction of hospitals and local authorities.
Previously, the Socialists accused Dritan Prifti, also a cabinet member from LSI who was fired in September and now has become independent. They have also accused Agriculture Minister Genc Ruli and lawmaker Albana Vokshi.
It seems they have increased or kept their campaign against corruption non-stop ahead of the local authorities elections next year.
But meanwhile they are in a strong political fight on the transparency of the last year’s vote, which has practically blocked the country’s parliament for all the laws asking for 84 votes, which cannot be reached without their presence.
