TIRANA, May 10 – Opposition Socialist Party held last weekend its national assembly to set terms for the candidates of the June 28 parliamentary polls.
In a speech held at the party meeting leader Edi Rama presented the new program which, he said, would lead the party to victory “with a new will not only to win the elections on the 28th of June, but to turn the victory into an instrument for the radical transformation of our country.”
During this process it is very important to take into the account from one hand the indispensability to convey our message of change and hope in every house and on the other hand the indispensability to create the opportunity for everybody in this country, being in the north or the south, being in city or in village, to vote freely and the vote to be honestly counted, according to Rama.
The party leader criticized the government of Prime Minister Sali Berisha for a “lack of a clear vision, with lack of responsibility and competence.”
The socialists are the main contenders to Berisha’s government.
They have already created a coalition with some smaller opposition parties but are still at odds with the former premier Ilir Meta’s party. The Socialist Movement for Integration Party is running separate with a few other smaller allies due to the disagreements that they had with Rama and his party.
