OSCE Presence launches project to support Albanian Parliament’s role in EU integration

TIRANA, Oct. 23- The OSCE Presence held a joint conference Wednesday with the Albanian Assembly to mark the start of a project to strengthen the oversight role of Albania’s parliament in the EU integration process, its press office reported.
The conference, organized in co-operation with the European Movement, an international civil society organization, supported a new project that aimed to enhance the role of the Parliament in the EU Stabilization and Association Process.
Participants discussed a gradual increase of the parliamentary oversight in the EU Stabilization and Association process, and the role of the European Integration Committee in particular.
Jozefina Topalli, the Speaker of the Albanian Parliament, and other members of parliament as well as representatives of the government, the business community, civil society, media and the diplomatic corps in Tirana will be taking part.
The conference will be followed by a nationwide tour by the parliamentary Committee on European Integration, during which its members will discuss challenges of the integration process with citizens, civil society and interest groups.
