TIRANA, Oct. 22 – The Pagliacci opera has made its comeback at the Opera House in Tirana after its last May’s premiere when internationally renowned Albanian soprano, Inva Mula, made her debut as a director.
Pagliacci, an opera in two acts by Italy’s Ruggero Leoncavallo, is featuring veteran Albanian soprano Mariana Leka and Italian tenor Davide La Verde as lead performers.
In her premiere stage in late May 2014, director Inva Mula, who was also the lead performer in Paggliaci, also conveyed a message to stop violence against women.
“We are still in a stage when women are violated and with this work we want to say stop to violence against women. Let us not just limit ourselves to a show of 70 minutes, but bring strong messages,” said Mula.
The opera, which made its comeback on Thursday, is also scheduled to stage on Saturday, Oct. 24.
Back in 2014, internationally renowned Albanian soprano Inva Mula was accepted as a fellow of the World Academy of Art and Science for her distinction in art and remarkable international accomplishments.
Born in Albania, to an artist family, Mula graduated as a soprano singer from the Academy of Arts, Tirana. In 1992, she moved to Paris, France, and has been there ever since. She is considered one of today’s great sopranos for her capacity to move from the Italian bel canto roles to the roles of French heroines. She reached a peak in her career in the 2009/10 season at the Paris Opera playing the role of Mirelle in Mireille by Gounod.
