TIRANA, Sept. 25 – An exhibition featuring 30 paintings and sculptures by Eduard Karaj is being displayed at the Edward Lear gallery in the southern UNESCO town of Berat.
Family, love, religion and tradition are some of the topics the painter has chosen for works using different techniques and genres.
“I have a wonderful impression about Berat, because I am amazed by the architecture of the town, the fortress and especially the Onufri paintings which inspire me a lot whenever I go there,” says the painter.
His next project is an exhibition called Portrait which will feature 35 sculpture and painting portraits. Open since 1994, the gallery named after British author Edward Lear, is one of the eldest and most important galleries in Albania. Its collection reveals the contemporary and traditional works of arts by Albanian and foreign artists.
Berat, also known as the city of 1001 windows, is acclaimed for its cultural heritage, especially for the famous icons created by renowned 16 century painter Onufri.
