Caretaker ministers take office, justice reform moves forward

TIRANA, May 23 – Albania’s parliament held an extraordinary session Monday afternoon to approve a government reshuffle based on a deal signed between Prime Minister Edi Rama and opposition leader Lulzim Basha ahead of the June 25 parliamentary elections. The reshuffle means the opposition Democratic Party was able to nominate the deputy prime minister and several ministers as caretakers to make sure the public administration does not give the ruling Socialist Party an unfair edge in the elections.
