TIRANA, July 16 – As part of the initiative “Bring EU closer to citizens” undertaken by the EU info centres in Shkoder and Vlore, the EUIC Shkoder has inaugurated the photo exhibition “Albanians’ Integration in EU Countries” by the well known Albanian photographer Roland Tasho. Italian Consul in Shkoder, local government representatives, art communities, local NGOs, academia and students and local media attended the event last week. The aim of this activity was to show-case, through photography the success stories of many Albanians well integrated in EU Countries. Subject to the artist focus were also many Albanians originally from Shkoder region. The inauguration ceremony was opened by Ermir Hoti, Head of EUIC Shkoder. He introduced this initiative undertaken by the EU Delegation in Tirana in the framework of “Europe Month” aimed to tour also in Shkoder and Vlore. He pointed out that Albanians’ EU integration is possible, if host country’s laws are respected, if access to education and employment is available for migrants. Artist Roland Tasho greeted the participants and highlighted the importance of promoting the integration success stories of the Albanians abroad to improve the image of Albania, both at national and international level. He mentioned that in early 90s the Western perception for the Albanians was confused and often not positive, therefore there was a need to change that perception. The participants had the opportunity to exchange views with the artist and also suggested to him to consider for his art many other Shkodra citizens that have become successful in their fields in the EU Countries.
The exhibition remained open for the public till 16 July.
