A rare exhibition featuring some of the world’s greatest visual art work will be put on display at the National Arts Gallery in Tirana for two months starting from April 21.
The exhibition brought to Tirana by Italian collector Francesco Martani includes works by Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Francesco Clemente, Basquiat, Chagall, Sironi etc and is displayed in the frame of the “Albania, Italy, Two Peoples, One Sea, One friendship” season of cultural events that are being held in Albania.
In an interview for the daily, Shqip, the director of the National Gallery of Arts, Rubens Shima, said 71 works by renowned artists will be displayed for the first time in Albania. The works are part of Martani’s collections selected from his two private museums.
The exhibition has been perceived in two sections. The first section called “Classical shines” will bring 21 works by Italian artists created from the 16th to 20th century, including paintings by Anibale Carraci and Guido Reni.
The second section will bring out the atmosphere of the 20th century artists.
The exhibition will be held under tight security measures considering the value of the works.
