Police collaborates with NGOs on trafficking victims’ rehabilitation

TIRANA, Dec. 1 – Police will intensify relations and cooperation with non-governmental organizations for the identification and rehabilitation of the victims of illegal trafficking. A meeting between police and NGOs was held last week to establish points of contacts and improve cooperation in the future. Police have collaborated with some of them for years, mainly for victims of prostitution, including girls and women forced to illegal labor abroad. Police said there has been a reduction in trafficking victims, mentioning 66 cases of women and 17 of children in 2004 fallen to 30 women and 10 children in 2005, and 25 women and four children in 2006. This year there were 11 women and two children involved in efforts of trafficking abroad.
