TIRANA, April 12 – Albania’s top policeman, Hysni Burgaj, said this week he was pleased with the police’s results of the fight against drug trafficking as well as economic and financial crime.
Police held its regular meeting on the results of its fight against organized crime during the first quarter this year.
Police leadership urged the branches around the country to work harder on preventing and discovering crimes, especially those against property.
Last week there was also a training in defensive tactics held at the Police Development Center.
OSCE Ambassador Robert Bosch said “that police work is an important, challenging and sometimes dangerous task for the individual police officer.”
He said it was vital that all police officers were well prepared and trained in the very latest self defense and arrest techniques available.
In two weeks time, 16 instructors and future State Police instructors received a practical training by two experts from the Dutch National Police service in self defense, arrest techniques and tactics for daily police street work.
He said they hoped that every police officer would be able to attend regular refreshment training at least five times a year in their respective precincts.
