Police keep eyes open during election time

TIRANA, Feb. 20 – Police kept a close eye to different activities of suspects who tried to exploit the election time for different criminal activities. Thus, on Tuesday police arrested five persons in Tirana for different crimes. Elton Elezi, 28, was arrested and found in his vehicle were 2,000 cigarette packages with the fiscal label he was trying to trade illegally. Police arrested Shpetim Ahmataj for issuing false documents. Police also arrested different persons for damaging other people in cases of theft, or damage, or threat.
In an operation held in southern Lazarat commune police arrested Roland Mahmuti, 28, who had been sentenced to 16 years imprisonment for theft. In Kurbin police arrested Roland Shafloqi accused of murdering a person in Tirana earlier this month. They also arrested Valmir Prenga who is accused of the same crime.
Erzen Haxhiu, 20, was arrested at Mother Teresa international airport trying to cross with a fake Bulgarian visa. Dashamir M. 17, was arrested and charged with theft. Dashnor Miftari, 43, was also arrested for stealing. Fiqiri Dervishi, 54, and his son Gani were arrested for threatening another person.
Dashamir Musa, 17, was arrested while stealing hydric firefighting implants at an apartment. Five Kosovar citizens were arrested after being found with false documents trying to cross into Italy through Durres ferries. Malo Selmani, 27, was arrested after he had been sentenced to 1.3 years of prison for illegal weapon possession.
In Lushnja police on Wednesday arrested A. Nezha, 21, for trying to rape a 14 year old girl.
Thursday police arrested Joni Mosku, 22, a student in Tirana who was found with 27 grams of heroin. Dhimiter Jani, 63, was arrested after he promised fake visas to Italy for which he was paid 60,000 leks each. Gentjan Doda, 26, was stopped at Mother Teresa international airport with a fake Greek Schenghen visa.
