TIRANA, May 17 – Albanian police have intensified their operations to prevent distribution of drugs and also the planting of the cannabis sativa plants in the country.
In Tirana, police have coordinated work with local authorities trying to prevent the planting of cannabis in residential courtyards and other places in the city. Police said they had found no cultivated plants in those areas they had checked. Police are also checking the area also by helicopter. Police have launched a “Stop Drugs’ campaign in all high schools in the capital Tirana.
Police also arrested Sk쯤er Driza, who had been wanted on an international arrest warrant since 2005 for drug and weapon trafficking. Driza was arrested Tuesday in Shijak, Durres.
Ahmet Isufaj, also wanted for drug trafficking, was assited by another person, Arben Isufaj, while police were trying to arrest him. Aftera physical confrontation, the two persons fled and are now wanted by police.
