TIRANA, June 10 – Police are working to organize themselves ahead of the June 28 parliamentary elections.
In its last training session, policemen were handed a manual on how they are supposed to behave when in contact with the journalists.
Police behavior during the election period is an issue of political debate. But the law-enforcement institution has significantly improved its position in the last elections, keeping themselves out of being a major issue.
Policemen normally stay away from the ballot box and only try to take care of the area surrounding the voting stations.
Police also said they had taken some steps to cope with the influx of people during the summer tourist season. They will take more steps at the Durres-Golem beach area to preserve law and order and keep road traffic under control.
More police units from the capital Tirana have been moved to the Durres area for the summer season.
