TIRANA, July 9 – The Interior and Transport Ministries agreed Monday to install a series of measures, including the limiting of driving of heavy vehicles during the day, in order to reduce traffic congestion during this summer when hundreds of thousands of tourist vehicles are travelling Albanian roads.

All vehicles weighing over 3.5 tons will be prohibited from driving in the main national roads from 8 am to 10 pm from July 15 to August 31, the time when many Albanian immgrants in neighboring countries, mainly Italy and Greece, return to their homeland for vacation.

Driving has become increasingly dangerous in the country where there is a noted lack of respect for driving rules and also for signals on the roads.
