Politicians arrested for producing fake documents

TIRANA, Feb. 26 – Police said Monday they had undertaken all the required steps to closely monitor elections and prevent any law violation and criminal attempt. Police teams were noticed patrolling cities, specially capital Tirana. Police said 2,381 policemen had taken care of following 474 rallies during the electoral campaign noting no serious incidents.
During the voting day police tried to stay apart of the political conflicts. There were reported no incidents Feb. 18. They followed closely seven incidents that occurred Sunday Feb. 18. police kept close contacts with international assistance missions.
International officials thanked Albanian police for their cooperation during the electoral campaign. They also highly evaluated the police behavior during the polls. They extended special thanks to police for the peaceful and successful electoral process. Special thanks to police were also given by the ODIHR’s mission head Jorgen Grunnet, who said they had registered no incident at all of police involvement.
