TIRANA, Nov. 17 – Albanians fear corruption as one of the main factors negatively affecting their country, according to a recent Gallup poll. That fear is also negatively affecting their trust and opinion on the government’s institutions.
Together with the European Fund for the Balkans, Gallup held a poll in seven western Balkan countries that are expected to become EU members one day.
The poll showed that in all western Balkan countries, including Albania, the people’s trust in their government institutions and the judiciary is falling.
Sixty-nine percent of the questioned persons in Albania believe that corruption is on the rise. That may also explain why some 42 percent of the people polled aimed to leave the country.
