TIRANA, May 12 – During a meeting with students last week, Prime Minister Sali Berisha said “the government has developed ambitious projects in energy sector to turn Albania into a key exporter of energy”. “Energy potentials of our country are enormous. Even though Albania’s rivers are not large and navigable, they represent great opportunities for construction of hydropower plants,” he said. The premier said that hydropower plants with a capacity of 20 billion kilowatt will be built, adding Albania is also rich in minerals such as chrome, nickel, steel and other mineral resources. “I am here to express my deepest conviction that its good people and citizens will make Albania rich, beautiful and clean,” Berisha said, adding his government was investing $1.2 billion in the country’s infrastructure.
