TIRANA, Sept. 9 – Producer prices, measuring price changes from the makers of a product, dropped for the third quarter in a row while the construction cost index for residential buildings continued registering slight increases.
INSTAT data shows the producer price index (PPI) dropped by 1.2 percent year-on-year in the second quarter of 2015 on a 6.1 percent decline in producer prices for the extractive industry.
The PPI on the domestic market was down by 2.4 percent while the export price index registered a 1.3 percent increase compared to the second quarter of 2014.
Meanwhile, the construction cost index for residential buildings rose by 0.4 percent year-on-year in the second quarter of 2015 on higher wage and machinery expenditure.
The Construction Cost Index calculates the difference of expenditure in construction, taking into consideration the change of basic input prices such as construction materials, construction vehicles and equipment, as well as expenses for employees.
