TIRANA, June 8 – Producer prices, measuring price changes from the makers of a product, dropped for the second quarter in a row in January-March 2015.

INSTAT data shows the producer price index (PPI) dropped by 1.8 percent compared to the first quarter of 2014 and was down by 0.4 percent compared to the final quarter of last year.

The PPI in the extractive industry registered the biggest annual decline of 9.6 percent.

The PPI on the domestic market was also down by 3.4 percent while the export price index registered a 0.8 percent increase.

Meanwhile, the construction cost index rose by 0.4 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2015 on higher wage, machinery and transport expenditure.

The Construction Cost Index calculates the difference of expenditure in construction, taking into consideration the change of basic input prices such as construction materials, construction vehicles and equipment, as well as expenses for employees.
