TIRANA, May 30 – After traveling to several coastal cities and towns, the Prologue Giffoni children’s film festival closed in Tirana with a concert at the Mother Teresa square. The film festival was held as part of “Italy and Albania 2010 – two peoples, one sea, a friendship” season of events organized by the Italian embassy in Tirana. The Giffoni Film Festival traveled to some of the most important Albanian cities with several cultural and cinema activities. Some of the best films of the most recent festival editions were presented in different coastal cities from 15 to 30 May bringing together thousands of kids and families.
Relationships between the Giffoni Film Festival and Albania have been going on for years and have grown ever stronger. The most important kids’ film festival has had Albanian films in its competitive sections since 1979, while in 1985 the Giffoni hosted a retrospective on Albanian cinema and in 2008 a further retrospective on animation films was also dedicated to Albania.
