TIRANA, March 2 – OPDAT-Albania joined forces with OPDAT-Kosovo to conduct a trial advocacy training course for Albanian prosecutors. Approximately 24 prosecutors and six Magistrate School students took part in the program, which began Monday morning with welcoming remarks by US Ambassador John Withers.
The course was taught by certified Kosovar instructors and by the OPDAT legal advisors from Albania and Kosovo.
The program focused on basic trial skills, such as direct and cross examination, and opening and closing statements.
Although this was the first trial advocacy program taught in Albania using US teaching methods, it was one in a series of joint trainings between Albania and Kosovo, with more planned in the future.
Such trainings are part of the capacity building efforts undertaken by OPDAT and, in particular, are designed to enhance the litigation and teaching skills of prosecutors in both countries
