TIRANA, June 5 – The Albanian Radio Television has financially supported four film projects approved by the National Cinematography Centre. The public broadcaster says it is offering financial support of 3 million leks (Euro 21,000) for each of the feature films. The funds will go to films directed by Namik Ajazi, Fatmir Ko詬 Gjergj Xhuvani and Iris Elezi. Bota (World), a feature film project written and directed by Albania’s Iris Elezi has previously received Euro 100,000 in funding from the Council of Europe’s Eurimages Fund.
“Andin”, one of Ajazi’s movies, has already completed shooting in Albania and Italy and if postproduction goes as predicted, the entire process may finish by the end of this year. Meanwhile the projects for the three other movies are planned to start soon.
Considering thfundraising, the agreement with the Albanian Radio Television is a good opportunity which came in difficult times for film producers. The support is based on an agreement on film production between the Albanian Radio Television and the National Cinematography Centre, a cooperation relationship which has been going on since three years.
The project is expected to help Albanian cinematography which has recently experienced problems caused by the considerable lack of funds and financial support and to give Albanian producers more opportunities to further develop their projects.
As a potential film producer, the Albanian Radio Television has just finished shooting a TV series directed by Besnik Bisha, with the participation of Albanian well known actors such as Ndricim Xhepa, Ervin Bejleri, Olta Gixhari etc.e difficulties faced by Albanian producers in film
