TIRANA, Jan 26 – Civil organizations and journalists’ associations, along with the opposition Socialist Party leader Edi Rama, have complained that the public television station has increased its political propaganda in support of the governing Democratic Party and its coalition and increasingly lacks professionalism in its news service.
A statement of the civic society organizations said they were “indignant’ by the promoting of the government’s policy by the public TV station and the station’s denigrating its critics.
They said the public TV station had turned into the main tool of propaganda for the governing coalition.
Public TV is dependent upon parliament where a commission monitors its work.
The TV station, in response, rejected the accusation as baseless. It said it had not censored any opposition figures.
