bohemeTIRANA, Dec. 17 – Puccini’s La Boheme is making a comeback at the Opera House in Tirana this weekend after its successful premiere in late 2014 bringing back one of the world’s most popular and captivating operas.

Staged as Albanian-Italian cooperation under the direction of Andrea De Manincor, La Boheme made its premiere in Nov. 2014 in a comeback after 11 years.

“It is a pleasure to work with a group of young singers as they should be in their roles, who are not only technically and vocally talented, but also excellent actors,” the Italian director said at last year’s premiere.

Kyrgyz tenor Jenish Ysmanov and Albanian soprano Eva Golemi will be performing in lead roles in this opera scheduled for Dec. 18, 22 and 24.

The symphonic orchestra of the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet is conducted Ada Gurra.

La Boheme, an opera in four acts is one of opera’s greatest love stories, tracing the doomed relationship between the impoverished poet Rodolfo and his seamstress girlfriend Mimi.

The Guardian has described it as “a beautifully integrated piece of music theatre and immensely moving.”
