TIRANA, Sep 1 – The Institute of Statistics announced that during the second quarter 2008 the Construction Cost Index saw an increase of 0.8 per cent compared to the previous quarter, and an annual inflation rate of 1.3 per cent. During the same period in 2006, this rate of change was 3 per cent.
The “Direct Expenditures” index group increased by 1.1 percent compared to the previous quarter.
Within the “Direct Expenditures” group, the highest increase of all subgroups has seen “Material Expenditures” increase by 1.4 percent and “Basic salaries fees” increase by 0.3 per cent. The index price of other groups has not changed during this quarter compared with the previous quarter of 2008.
Within the “Material Expenditures” subgroup there was noted an increase in the price of construction materials of 1.5 per cent and expenditures of electric materials by 2.3 percent, while the prices of hydro – sanitary materials fell 0.8 per cent.
The index in other subgroups fluctuates from -0.4 per cent to + 0.3 per cent.
