TIRANA, March 26 – Following are data from the Institute of Statistics on fourth quarter 2007 from different sectors and businesses.
Industry
Sales estimated with current prices in the sectors of industry increased by 12.2 percent from the fourth quarter 2007 to fourth quarter 2006. This increase was evident in the extracting industry at 31.3 percent and in the manufacturing industry at 10.5 percent during the same period. In the electricity and water utilities, total sales increased by 8.5 percent compared with the same quarter of last year.
The number of employees in industry increased by 3.6 percent from fourth quarter of 2006 to fourth quarter of 2007 while the salaries paid employees increased by 21.1 percent during the same period.
Section C: Extracting industry
In the Extracting industry the fourth quarter 2007 sales increased by 31.3 percent compared with the fourth quarter of 2006. The extracting industry has influenced the sale of petroleum.
The number of employees in the extracting industry from fourth quarter 2006 to fourth quarter 2007 has increased by 12.9 percent, while the wages paid increased by 24.8 percent during the same period.
Section D: Manufacturing
In the manufacturing industry, sales estimates based upon current prices increased by 10.5 percent from the fourth quarter 2006 to fourth quarter 2007. The increase in turnover was higher in the production of food, beverages and tobacco (34.1 percent), in the production of wood and wood products (30.7 percent) while there was a decrease in Manufacturing Leather and shoes (37.6 percent). The number of employees in the Manufacturing Industry increased by 2.8 percent from fourth quarter 2006 to fourth quarter 2007, while the wages paid increased by 22.6 percent during the same period.
Section E: Electricity, gas, steam and water supply
Turnover (sales), in electricity, gas, steam and the water utility sector, estimated with current prices, has increased by 8.5 percent from fourth quarter 2006 to fourth quarter 2007.
The sale of electric energy includes the energy produced in the country, the purchasing of energy import and private HEC. The number of employees, in electricity and water supply, increased by 1.1 percent, while the wages in this branch increased by 16 percent during the same period.
Construction
Turnover with fixed prices (the sales deflated with the Construction Cost Index)) in the construction sector decreased by 5.1 percent from the fourth 2006 to fourth quarter 2007, while the volume of construction decreased by 7.6 percent.
The decrease in the volume of construction in new buildings is 23.3 percent, reconstruction 6.1 percent, while in civil engineering work has increased by 15.1 percent.
The number of employees in construction decreased by 4.6 percent, from fourth quarter 2006 to fourth quarter 2007, while salaries increased by 22.6 percent during the same period.
Hotels
The turnover estimated with fix prices in the activity of hotels (sales deflated with Consumer Price Index, only for this activity) increased by 2.3 percent from fourth quarter 2006 to third fourth 2007.
The number of employees increased by 1.7 percent, while the wages in this sector increased by 8.4 percent compared to the same period last year. The rooms purchased in hotels has decreased for foreigner clients by 7 percent during the fourth quarter 2007 compare with the same fourth 2006, while the rooms purchased for Albanian clients increased by 60.8 percent during the same period.
Transport
Railway Transport
Turnover (sales) estimated with current prices in railway transport activities rose by 25.1 percent from fourth quarter 2006 to fourth quarter 2007.
The number of employees decreased 5.6 percent, while the wages paid decreased by 1.0 percent.
Air Naval
Turnover (sales) estimated with current prices in sea transport activities decreased by 25.1 percent from fourth quarter 2006 to fourth quarter 2007.
The number of employees decreased by 15.2 percent, while wages increased by 18.5 percent during the same period.
Air Transport
Turnover (sales) estimated with current prices in the sector of air transport decreased by 12.0 percent from fourth quarter 2006 to fourth quarter 2007. While the other indicators such as number of employees and salaries increased by 26.7 and 21.6 percent respectively, during the same period.
Travel Agencies
Turnover estimated with current prices in travel agencies decreased by 2.9 percent from fourth quarter 2006 to fourth quarter 2007, for the same group of agencies.
The number of employees in travel agencies increased by 16.2 percent, while wages paid increased by 20.1 percent during the same period.
Post and Communication
Turnover (sales) estimated with the current prices in postal activity rose by 56.8 percent from second quarter 2006 to second quarter 2007, while turnover in activity of communication increased by 21.3 percent.
The number of employees in post activity increased by 20.2 percent and wages increased 19.3 percent, while in communication the number of employees increased 9.8 percent and wages 11.8 percent during the same period.
