TIRANA, March 25 – Main opposition Socialist Party leader, Edi Rama, has sent a letter supporting NATO membership to NATO Secretary general Jaap de Hoop Schaeffer.

“Today, the Albanian opposition is more committed to playing its role in fulfilling Albania’s aspirations for integration into the Euro-Atlantic family,” said the letter.

Rama further explained to the NATO official that the country’s politicians has begun following a new cooperation for the reforms needed for the integration into the alliance.

“Like never before, we Albanians feel close to the family of the peoples of the Alliance ready to undertake the historic responsibility of being an integral part of this alliance,” he said.

“Allow me, on behalf of the opposition, to guarantee we shall make all efforts and will not spare any energy to guarantee not only an invitation but also Albania’s membership into NATO,” he wrote.
