TIRANA, Sept. 26 – Twelve Balkan theatrical troupes are participating in the Albamono monodrama festival in the southeastern town of Korca. This edition which corresponds to Albania’s 100th anniversary of independence has brought on stage several troupes from Albanian-speaking regions from Kosovo, Macedonia and Montenegro along with actors from Bulgaria and Serbia.
The eight-day festival will conclude on Sept. 28 when a prize award ceremony will also be held.
Dhimiter Orgocka, the festival’s director says the festival is also aimed at promoting cultural tourism. Voskopoja and Dardha tourist areas were some of the venues the festival staged its performances.
“The appearance of actors in monodramas is a difficult experience, hard work and ability is required as well as high level expressiveness, interweaving naturalness and reliability. In monodrama as elsewhere you have to be an actor of human truth against falsity,” says Orgocka.
