TIRANA, March. 11- The supply of a secure amount of energy at low cost depends on regional cooperation and using cutting-edge technology which should be uniform for all the Balkans. This was the concusion of a round table for the project of predicting energy needs for all countries in South-eastern Europe. From 2005 energy specialists from 9 countries of the Balkans in collaboration with USAID are implementing the software Markal to optimize electro-energy systems. The activity has been addresed also by KESH head Gj. Bojaxhi. Albanian experts say that the long term solution for the Albanian energy crisis depends on two main developments: the finishing of thermo-power plants and the interconnection lines for imported energy. The new line that goes through Albania, Kosova and Montenegro will play a significant role in the lowering of import costs, experts conclude. (Tirana Times Staff)
