TIRANA, Oct. 10 – The initial capital for registration of joint stock companies dealing with private equity at the National Registration Center (QKR) will soon be raised to 3.5 million lek or 25,000 Euros. The changes to the law on “Traders and commercial enterprises” are being examined by the productive activities and economy parliamentary committee to bring them in line to EU legislation.
Currently, 2.5 million lek or 16,000 Euros are needed to register a joint stock company.
Joint stock companies registered under the previous law will be given a one-year deadline to increase their capital after the law enters into force.
The draft law aims at providing equal treatment to EU and Albanian joint stock companies also fulfilling Albania’s Stabilization and Association commitments, says Parliament’s press office.
