TIRANA, Feb. 1 – Minister of Economy and Energy Genc Ruli has said the Fieri thermo power plant, whose concession has been issued to the Greek consortium Atermon sh.a. – Roder & Blackwell Consulting, will begin producing up to 100 megawatts of energy using new technology this year. Currently, the price of energy is some 90 euro per megawatt, which is 15 percent higher than the price the country pays for importing energy. The renovated plant will have a 200 megawatts capacity, or 1.6 billion kWh a year. The plant began producing some 159 megawatts in 1981 and its machinery has become outdated.(Tirana Times Staff)
