TIRANA, Nov. 1 – Visho Ajazi Lika, who served as head of Albania’s State Intelligence Service (SHISH) for five years, has resigned from his post, the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement Monday. The statement said Prime Minister Edi Rama “welcomed the resignation, thanking Mr. Visho Ajazi for his contribution.” At a time when the country is overtaken by political instability, the chief spy’s resignation has sparked questions whether the decision was personal or had come under pressure from the government.
