TIRANA, Oct. 11 – The Institute of Statistics reported the following results on retail trade commodities for June 2006. During June of 2006 there were exported 6,923 mln leks of commodities, increasing by 2% compared to June of 2005 and decreasing by 1.1% compared to May of 2006. There were imported 27,786 mln leks of commodities with an increase of 18.5% compared to the same period a year ago and an increase of 14.1% compared to the previous month. The trade deficit in June was 20,863 mln leks, increasing by 20.2% compared to the previous month and by 25.5% compared to a year ago. Trade with the EU countries covered 63%. The main trade partners remained Italy and Greece. With Italy export was 70.5% and import 25.6%, while with Greece export was 8.7% and import 14.7%. Other partners with an increase export-import were: in exports Austria, Great Britain, Germany, Macedonia, and in imports Great Britain, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Italy.
Comparison with the previous month of some group commodities showed that the export of “Minerals, fuels, electricity” increased 108.1%, “Machinery, equipment and spare parts” increased 46.3%, “Wood manufactured and article of paper” increased 10.8%. Export of “Construction materials and metals” decreased 25%, “Food, beverages, tobacco” decreased 21.1%. Import of “Machinery, equipment and spare parts” increased 34.2%, “Minerals, fuels, electricity” increased 31%, “Construction materials and metals” increased 20.3%. Import of “Wood manufactured and article of paper” decreased 7.6%, “Leather and leather manuf.” decreased 2.2%. In June 2006, the import of goods with excise was 4,203 mln leks, or 15.1% of the total import. During this month, the import of goods with excise increased by 67.9% compared with same month of 2005. Oil fuel products are the main imported goods in the goods with excise (52.5%).
